These Jam Knots are super easy to make and only require 7 ingredients! And if you think, it's super complicated to form the knot-no, it isn'tđ
You can use your favorite jam, I used red berry jam. The yeast dough is simple to make and even if you're a beginner, this recipe is perfect for you. On my Instagram account @tamarasbakings, I've got a video on how to make these Jam Knots.
So, without further due, let's get right into it!
Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 250g flour (2 cups)
- 125g milk (1/2 cup)
- 25g butter (1 big tablespoon)
- 1 egg yolk
- 21g fresh yeast (you can also use dry yeast but then it's 1 package/7g)
- 30g sugar (2 tablespoons)
- Your favorite jam
Instructions:
- Sift your flour into a large mixing bowl.
- Combine butter and milk by heating it (for example in the microwave) until it is lukewarm.
- Add your sugar to the butter-milk mix and give it a quick stir. The sugar doesn't have to be dissolved.
- Add the egg yolk and the milk-mix to the sifted flour and knead for about 5 minutes until you get a soft and smooth dough.
- Cover your bowl with a towel and let the dough rise for 40 minutes until it has doubled in size. You can either place it in the sun or in the oven, but make sure your oven is not too hot.
- Roll out your dough into a circle and cut it into strips. Use a sharp knife.
- Take your jam and cover every yeast dough stripe with a thin layer.
- Form a knot out of each stripe. Start by making a real knot, then hide the ends somewhere in your knot. If you are unsure, how to do it, check out my Reels.
- Put your Jam Knots on a baking sheet and bake them at 180°C/356°F for 15 minutes, until they are light brown
- Enjoy!
